Alcohol toxicity
Alcohol toxicity: when alcohol is consumed, the liver metabolisms it and
produces a compound called acetaldehyde, which at first starts its ill
effect on the Central nervous system causing cognitive dysfunction,
decrease in coordination and sedation.
Acetaldehyde further affects the immune response, and paralyzes it and this
process starts damaging the integrity of liver cells. Hence liver failure
occurs and can never be reversed.
The empty calories and sugars in addition to acetaldehyde increase
weight drastically and sugars retain in blood causing diabetes. Similarly
other organs are also affected and cause heart failure, blood pressure,
brain haemorrhage, pancreatitis, and other life-threatening chronic health
issues.
